We’re launching a new drama group for adults living with disability labels!

Whilst we would love for this group to be held in-person, we have made the decision to continue with the group online through virtual sessions. We will be following the coronavirus updates closely with the hope to invite participants to in-person sessions in the new year.

Weekly sessions starting Wednesday 21st October 2020

Participants will meet their creative leaders online, via our working platform.

As lockdown restrictions are eased further we will seek to grow the group online and in-person.

Our new drama group (to be named by its participants) will invite adults living with disability labels and based in Trafford, to develop their careers over the course of a year.

Members work with disability drama specialists to –

  • Learn new techniques in performance
  • Express your voice
  • Gain transferable skills
  • Earn new qualifications (PEARL accreditation from GQAL)
  • Develop your career

This programme builds members who can express their views, raise awareness of disability, explore new creative outlets and become leaders.

We’re working with a group of 5 learners who, led by specialist workshop leaders, will meet weekly for 39 weeks to develop their drama skills.

Members are –

  • Over 18 years old
  • Based in the Trafford area
  • Living with disability label(s)
  • Not currently in employment

Created in partnership with Gorse Hill Studios, an independently-run charity which delivers services from a thriving youth arts centre based in the North of Trafford. The organisation also works with key Local Authorities, Schools and Commissioning Groups to deliver outreach programmes.

This new initiative is funded and supported by WEA (adult Learning Within Reach) and The European Social Fund (ESF).
